Emma Tizard, and Yarranton with a Senior Day celebration.
CLASS OF 2017 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Class of 2017 has won a total of 30 games in their careers, which is tied for the fourth-most by a graduating class. This unit helped set the program record with 12 wins in 2014 and set the school mark with four conference victories in 2015. These upperclassmen have tallied three All-Rookie selections, one All-Conference recipient, and a pair of berths into the America East Tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
After mounting a late comeback in the second half, the Catamounts could not overcome a seven-goal deficit earlier in the period and UVM suffered a 14-8 conference defeat at UMass Lowell last Sunday in the road finale. Janes recorded her fifth hat trick of the season and caused a pair of turnovers for the Catamounts. Bolt and Moore added two goals apiece and combined to win six draw controls. Yarranton netted a goal with two ground balls, two draw controls and caused a turnover.
Molly Little and Moore each handed out two assists.
Maddy Kuras stopped six shots in goal and Green saved one shot in a relief appearance.
SCOUTING UMBC
The Retrievers are looking to get back on track after their four-game winning streak was snapped against No. 4 Stony Brook last Saturday. In conference play, UMBC owns the second-highest scoring offense at 24.60 points per game (14.80 goals/9.80 assists) behind Stony Brook. Lauren McDonald leads the team with 52 goals and the sophomore has netted 29 goals in the last six games with three double hat tricks. In the overall scoring column, Sam Nolan ranks third in America East with 68 points on 40 goals and 28 assists. Sara Moeller is tied for fifth among the league's top distributors with 35 assists. Against league foes, goalie Ashley Peacock holds the third-lowest goals-against average at 11.90.
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont will be looking to even the all-time series as UMBC holds a slight 7-6 edge. The Catamounts have won the last two meetings and three out of the last four overall to close the gap. Since 2009, UVM and UMBC have been very competitive against one another as six of the outcomes have been determined by five goals or less.
