Box Score
Vermont is 4-4 following the win, while Bryant drops to 1-9 on the season.
UVM drew a total of five penalty corners throughout the match, all in the second half, and did not surrender a single one at the other end of the pitch. Not to be overlooked is the defensive effort displayed by the Catamounts, which kept Bryant to just one shot on goal for the balance of the match and earned senior goalkeeper
Lena Benwood her sixth career shutout.
The Catamounts totaled three shots in the opening 35 minutes, including two on goal from Warren. Neither, however, would get past Bryant goalkeeper Lyndsay Swanston.
Warren's goal wrapped up a sequence that originated partly out of a penalty corner. Although
Taylor Gaines was denied by Swanston, the Catamounts sustained offensive pressure and finally struck when Warren drove from the right of the cage and beat Swanston on a reverse-stick shot. It was her seventh goal of the season and came in the 48th minute.
Bryant's lone crack at the equalizer came in the 68th minute from Floor van Dommelen but Benwood turned aside the shot.
UVM now heads north to the Bay State and prepares for a Sunday (Sept. 24) matchup with Northeastern in Dedham, Massachusetts. Opening whistle is set for 1 p.m.
