SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac opens the 2018-19 season Saturday at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Bobcats took a 5-2 exhibition win over Prince Edward Island last weekend in Hamden.
Odeen Tufto, the team's leading scorer a season ago (9-32-41), returns for his sophomore season. Goalie Andrew Shortridge enters his junior season after starting 24 games last year and finishing the season with a 2.36 GAA and .906 save percentage. Shortridge was fifth in the NCAA with five shutouts last season.

The Bobcats were selected to finish eighth of 12 teams in the ECAC.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Quinnipiac meet for the fourth time in series history and third time in as many seasons Saturday. The duo first met in the 2007-08 season as Quinnipiac visited Burlington for the Sheraton/TD Banknorth Catamount Classic, a 4-1 win for the then-third-ranked Bobcats.

Two seasons ago, the Cats took a 5-1 win over QU in Northern Ireland en route to winning the 2016 Friendship Four tournament in Belfast. Last year, QU took a 3-2 overtime win in Vermont's first trip to Hamden, Connecticut.

LONG TIME, NO SEE
There are at least seven junior team connections between the Catamounts and Bobcats in 2018-19.

Liam Coughlin and Luke Shiplo both spent the 2014-15 season with the Vernon Vipers (BCHL).
Craig Puffer and QU captain Scott Davidson played the 2014-15 season together with the Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL).
