NCAA RPI RANKINGS
In the latest NCAA RPI rankings, the Catamounts have landed at No. 51 out of 206 Division I programs. The near top-50 ranking is second-best among America East teams behind New Hampshire at No. 48 and fourth-best in New England - UConn at No. 16 and Rhode Island at No. 33.
IN GOOD COMPANY
Geo Alves is currently tied for the America East lead with 22 points. In each of the last three seasons, a Catamount has led the league in scoring by season's end –
Brian Wright '17 recorded 27 points in 2015 then set a UVM single-season record with 40 points in 2016. Alves led the way last year with 23 points.
SPOT IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Alves has also netted 10 goals this season and has moved into a 10th-place tie in UVM's all-time record book. He is one goal away from jumping into a sixth-place tie and two goals away from cracking the top-five for the most goals in a single season. Classmate
Justin Freitas is trying to ink his name among Vermont's all-time leaders as well. Freitas has doled out six assists this year and sits one assist away from moving into the top-10.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
The Bearcats began conference play with a pair of victories, a 2-0 win against Hartford on Sept. 22 and a 2-1 upset over 23rd-ranked UNH on Sept. 29, but have suffered five straight overall defeats in October. Binghamton has used a balanced scoring attack as three players have scored three goals apiece – Noah Luescher, Connor McKnight, and Haris Brkovic. Luescher leads the team with 10 points on three goals and four points. McKnight follows with eight points on three goals and two assists. Brkovic rounds out the spree with six points. Chris Shutler has spent the majority of the time between the pipes. He ranks third in the league with 49 saves and sits fourth with a pair of clean sheets.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have dominated the all-time series with the Bearcats and own a 12-5-3 edge. UVM has won four straight and eight out of the last nine meetings. Since 2011, the Cats have outscored Binghamton 15-2 with seven clean sheets. The two rivals met in the 2015 America East Championship Game and the Green and Gold captured the program's fifth conference title with a 1-0 victory at Virtue Field. Last year, Freitas scored two second-half goals in a 2-0 shutout in Burlington.
