NASHUA, N.H. – Five Catamounts won America East honors as they raced through the wind and rain Saturday afternoon in the America East Championship at Mine Falls Park.
John Benner won All-Conference Honors for the Vermont men (114 pts.) who finished behind the host UMass Lowell (43 pts.), Stony Brook (44 pts.), and Binghamton (103 pts.).
Lauren Trumble,
Annemarie Martell,
Maggie Hallahan, and
Samantha Sayer earned All-Conference honors for the UVM women (61 pts.) who finished third behind Albany (46 pts.) and Stony Brook (59 pts.)

Matt Belfield. "I'm so proud of these men and women and how they represent Vermont. The results will show the individual scores and times, but they don't show the heart and desire exhibited today. We wanted a little more, but we'll keep working hard to get a title for UVM in the future."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benner's time of 25:00.55 was a personal best in the 8K, eclipsing his previous mark by nearly 14 seconds.
- Will LaCroix (22nd) was the second finisher for the Catamounts with a time of 25:35.24 followed by Tyler Marshall (29th) at 25:48.54
- Neville Caulfield (31st) and Jack Carmody (32nd) finished back-to-back to round out the men's scorers.
- Trumble (4th) registered a new personal record in the 5K with a time of 17:29.96, to lead the UVM women and squash her previous mark by over 33 seconds.
- Martell also finished in the overall top 10 with a personal-best time of 17:39.63 for ninth place.
- Hallahan (12th) recorded a personal-best time as well in the 5K and Sayer followed (13th) for back-to-back finishes.
- Rookie Jane Leighton rounded out the women's scorers in 23rd place overall.
NOTES
- The Vermont women's third-place finish was their best finish since the 2014 America East Championship at Maine where they also placed third.
- Trumble and Martell were the first Catamount duo to finish in the top 10 since the 2013 championship
- The UVM men's fourth-place finish matched the result from last season at Hard'Ack Recreation Area.

The Catamounts get a week off before traveling to Buffalo Friday (Nov. 9) for the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional. The women have already seen the course this season when they finished second in the UB Stampede.
