BURLINGTON, Vt. – The 17th-ranked Maine Black Bears (10-2, 2-1 AE) scored three second half goals at Moulton Winder Field to take a 4-0 win over the Vermont Catamounts (5-7, 2-1 AE) Sunday afternoon.

In its annual Rally Against Cancer game, presented by Vermont Custom Closets, Vermont wore lavender socks to support the fight against all cancers and benefit the UVM Cancer Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine got on the board in the 26th minute off the stick of Hana Davis. The sophomore received a pass from Nina Keur in the circle and slotted a shot past Sierra Espeland (6 saves).
- Vermont received its first penalty corner in the 33rd minute and moved the ball to senior Landon Warren, whose shot was turned aside by Mia Borley (4 saves).
- After a pair of unsuccessful Catamount corners, Maine's Brianna Ricker netted her third of the season and second in as many games to put the Black Bears up 2-0 in the 44th minute.
- UVM's third corner of the game came in the 51st minute, but Rachel Phillips' shot from the top of the circle was turned aside by Borley.
- Maine sealed the game with goals in the 62nd and 63rd minute to take a 4-0 lead. Samantha Wagg scored the first off a feed from Riley Field before Field tallied a goal of her own 49 seconds later.
NEXT UP
Vermont takes on the 24th-ranked Great Danes of Albany (9-3, 3-1 AE) on the road next Friday (Oct. 12). The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at Albany's Alumni Turf. The Great Danes notched a pair of conference wins this weekend over New Hampshire (Oct. 5) and UMass Lowell (Oct. 7).
