COACH'S QUOTE
"We played a strong first half today," head coach Kate Pfeifer said. "Unfortunately, our defense broke down in the second and we allowed a very good Maine team to gain momentum and opportunities, which they converted on."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maine got on the board in the 26th minute off the stick of Hana Davis. The sophomore received a pass from Nina Keur in the circle and slotted a shot past Sierra Espeland (6 saves).
  • Vermont received its first penalty corner in the 33rd minute and moved the ball to senior Landon Warren, whose shot was turned aside by Mia Borley (4 saves).
  • After a pair of unsuccessful Catamount corners, Maine's Brianna Ricker netted her third of the season and second in as many games to put the Black Bears up 2-0 in the 44th minute.
  • UVM's third corner of the game came in the 51st minute, but Rachel Phillips' shot from the top of the circle was turned aside by Borley.
  • Maine sealed the game with goals in the 62nd and 63rd minute to take a 4-0 lead. Samantha Wagg scored the first off a feed from Riley Field before Field tallied a goal of her own 49 seconds later.
