HANOVER, N.H. – Two goals in the third period lifted the Dartmouth Big Green (2-4-0, 1-4-0 ECAC) over the Vermont Catamounts (2-5-3, 2-4-3 WHEA) Tuesday night at Thompson Arena.

"This was another game where we beat ourselves," said head coach Jim Plumer. "Penalties at the beginning of all three period cost us momentum and in a dominating second period, we could only score one goal. It's disappointing to yet again feel that we didn't play to our potential."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tess Bracken opened the scoring for the Big Green with 8:37 left in the first period. The senior forward intercepted a pass in the Vermont zone and neared Blanka Škodová (24 saves) before lifting a backhand shot past the UVM goaltender.
• The Catamounts responded in the second period by outshooting Dartmouth 9-4 and drawing two key power-play opportunities.
• Theresa Schafzahl capitalized on a power play with 10:59 left in the middle frame. The rookie forward deflected a point-shot by Sammy Kolowrat under the pads of Christine Honor (22 saves). Maude Poulin-Labelle was credited with the secondary assist.
• Bracken and Sara McClanahan netted two goals in the first five minutes of the third period to take an insurmountable lead for the Big Green.
• The Catamounts pulled Škodová with 2:49 left and established control in the Dartmouth zone. Poulin-Labelle wristed a heavy shot through traffic that almost found the back of the net, but was gloved by Honor.

NOTES

• Škodová's shutout streak ended at 115:39 with the opening goal by Bracken
• In that stretch, Škodová stopped all 52 shots faced, spanning over parts of three games

WHAT'S NEXT
The Catamounts return home to Gutterson Fieldhouse Sunday (Nov. 11) as they host the Providence Friars at 1 p.m. The first 250 fans will be given a free hat, thanks to Flat Fee Real Estate.
