WEST HARTFORD, Conn.– Vermont went 0-3 on the season's final road trip following a 91-52 loss at Hartford on Saturday afternoon. The Catamounts and Hawks split the season series at 1-1.

"We just ran into a buzz saw today against a team that is now fully healthy and came off of a loss," said UVM head coach
Chris Day. "I am proud of the way we came out in the second half but it was just Hartford's day today."

Hartford applied full court pressure on the Vermont offense right away and led 30-10 after the opening period. UVM started to hit some three-point shots in the second quarter but still trailed 51-27 at halftime.

The Catamounts only outscored the Hawks in one period: the third quarter (21-18). Hartford limited UVM to just four points in the fourth quarter in order to cruise to a 91-52 win. The margin of victory, 39 points, happened to be the Hawks' largest lead of the game.

Hartford was led by four players with double-figures in the scoring column: Lindsey Abed (24 pts), Jade Young (17), Janelle Harrison (16) and Darby Lee (14). Abed set a program record for most three-point field goals made by a Hawk in a single-game, as she went an incredible 8-10 from downtown.

For Vermont,
Cassidy Derda scored 14 points (4-8 3PT), grabbed three rebounds and added a blocked shot.
Josie Larkins also dropped 14 points (4-8 3PT as well), tying her career-high which she set against Norwich on Nov. 15.

Hanna Crymble has now gone back-to-back games without posting double-figures in scoring. She has registered eight points in each of her last two games.

Hartford forced 24 Vermont turnovers while only committing 11. The Hawks also won the rebound battle 35-26.

After Vermont was held to a season-low 38 points in Binghamton, UVM allowed a season-high 91 points at Hartford.

With the loss, Vermont is now 8-19 overall and 5-9 in America East play. The Catamounts finished the season 2-11 on the road. Meanwhile, Hartford improves to 15-12 overall, 9-4 at home and 7-7 in conference play. UVM won the first meeting of the season in Burlington (Jan. 21) 53-47.

As a team, Vermont shot 33% from the field, 34% from downtown (11-32) and 75% at the free throw line (9-12). Meanwhile, Hartford went 55% from the floor, 52% from distance (12-23) and 69% at the foul line (9-13).

Next up, UVM concludes the regular season with two home games next week. The first game of the season's final homestand is against Maine on Thursday (Feb. 22) at 7 p.m.
