LAST TIME OUT
Four different players registered hat tricks for the Catamounts last Wednesday, powering Vermont to a 17-10 non-conference road win against Stetson.
Jenna Janes led the way with three goals and three assists, all in the first half of play.
Alex Bernier,
MacKenzie Bolt, and
Bailey Saneman also picked up hat tricks as Vermont closed a two-game swing in Florida with seven players posting multi-point efforts.
Maddy Kuras collected the victory between the pipes, stopping 11 shots and making several key saves down the stretch to preserve the win. The Cats scored 15 goals on her counterpart Liza Diamond, a multiple A-SUN Defensive Player of the Week Award winner this season.
Â
AMERICA EAST SCORERS
Elise Koehl has been one of the Cats' top offensive threats this year. The Louisville transfer has scored 21 goals in 2018, the fifth-most among the conference's top scorers. Â Â Â
Â
LENDING A HELPING HAND
As a team, Vermont has dealt the third-most assists among America East teams this season. UVM has racked up 36 assists, trailing UMBC by three assists for second place and Stony Brook leads the pack with 73 assists. Bernier has distributed 10 assists during her senior campaign – the sixth highest total in the league.  Â
Â
CRACKING THE TOP-FIVE
Bernier is only one assist shy of cracking the top-five on the program's career assists list. The senior has dished out 47 assists in her career and she can tie Abigail Collins (1987-90) for fifth all-time with one more assist.
Â
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Wednesday's matinee will be the third America East opponent on the docket for Sacred Heart, who has struggled during non-conference play with an 0-7 record. Hanna Wise leads the team and ranks sixth in the Northeast Conference with 15 goals. The junior has stepped up her offensive output during the month of March. She has tallied 10 points on nine goals and one assist compared to only six points in February. The 5-10 attacker has logged four hat tricks on the year. Averi Farhat has been one of the top facilitators in the NEC. She sits in a 10th-place tie with five assists. Paige Hammick has spent every minute of the season in goal and the senior netminder has registered the third-most saves (56) in the NEC. Â Â
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will try to even up the series as the two foes will play for the first time in three years. The Pioneers hold a slight 3-2 edge over the Cats after winning the first three meetings from 2003-05. However, UVM has countered in the last two matchups by outscoring Sacred Heart 35-11. In 2014, the Catamounts won 20-3 in Burlington and kept momentum on their side with a 15-8 victory in 2015.
