FINAL SCORE: Binghamton 15, Vermont 8
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The UVM women's lacrosse team fell to Binghamton 15-8 in its America East opener on Saturday afternoon. Vermont drops to 4-6 overall and the loss snaps a recent two-game winning streak. The win helped Binghamton improve to 4-5 on the year and ends a five-game skid.

Elise Koehl registered her second straight hat trick and fourth of the season. The junior also picked up two ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Bailey Saneman added two goals and one assist for the Cats. UVM rounded out its attack with
Ali Korin,
Jenna Janes, and
MacKenzie Bolt scoring one goal apiece.
Maddy Kuras recorded eight saves in goal.
The Bearcats had eight different players score a goal, including hat tricks from Brianne Arthur and Paige Volkmann. Jaqueline Kennedy notched a pair of goals, dished out an assist, and won six draw controls. Tiffany Ryan matched Kennedy with two goals and one assist while causing three turnovers. Rebecca Golderman was the third Bearcat with two goals and the junior won five draw controls. Taylor Passuello earned the victory and made a dozen saves between the pipes.
Binghamton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after Callon Williams started the scoring attack 30 seconds into the game. Kennedy followed with a goal of her own three minutes later, but Vermont whittled the deficit in half at the 23:38 mark.
Elena McWright found Koehl on the right side of the crease, who beat Passeullo in the bottom right corner of the net.
The Bearcats added two more goals before Bolt closed the gap to 4-2. Saneman found Bolt open in front of the net where the freshman fired a shot past Passeullo. BU regained momentum with six of the period's final seven goals and held a 9-3 advantage at halftime.
The Catamounts opened the second half with three unanswered goals and trailed 9-6. Korin handed a pass off to Saneman, who lined a contested shot over the defense for the goal. Koehl added a free-position goal a minute and a half later, then Korin capped off the surge with an unassisted goal at the 23:41 mark.
Binghamton countered with six straight goals and converted four woman-up opportunities over the next 13 minutes. UVM added two more tallies to the scoreboard in the final three minutes and change. Koehl completed the hat trick with 3:16 left in the game and Saneman recorded her second goal of the afternoon under the two-minute mark.
Vermont will travel to top-ranked Stony Brook on Friday (March 30) in the first road test of the conference season. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m. Free live video will be available at
