CATS VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
Vermont has reached the win column three times against ranked opponents. UVM knocked off No. 14 New Hampshire 9-8 on April 9, 2008. In a triple-overtime thriller, the Catamounts took down 15th-ranked Dartmouth 16-15 on March 27, 2013. The Green and Gold also beat No. 15 Stony Brook 8-7 in overtime on April 26, 2014.
THE FACILITATOR
Alex Bernier is only four assists shy of cracking the top-10 on UVM's single season assists list. The redshirt senior has handed out 15 assists this season. Two years ago, the Falmouth, Maine native tallied 26 assists for the third-highest single season total. She has racked up 52 assists in her career – the fourth most by a Catamount.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
Coming into the season, the Seawolves were picked as the unanimous favorite in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll and were ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLA) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Stony Brook earned its first ever No. 1 national ranking last month in the IWLA weekly poll and has remained in the top spot ever since. As a team, the Seawolves rank as the nation's best in four categories - points per game (26.75), scoring defense (7.25), scoring margin (+8.88), and turnovers per game (11.88). Kylie Ohlmiller leads all Division I scorers with 6.88 points per game and sits sixth with 2.50 assists per game. Kylie's younger sister, Taryn Ohlmiller, is also among the country's best. The younger Ohlmiller sister has averaged the most assists per game (3.13) and ranks seventh in points per game (5.63). Anna Tesoriero has also been one of the top netminders in Division I. The junior has recorded the second-lowest goals-against average (7.22) and owns the 16th-best save percentage (0.505).
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will try to end a three-game skid against the Seawolves. Stony Brook leads the all-time series 11-5, but UVM has earned a pair of victories on Long Island. Friday's meeting under the lights will mark the sixth straight matchup where Stony Brook has been ranked in the national polls.
