FINAL SCORE: Holy Cross 16, Vermont 8
WORCESTER, Mass. – The UVM women's lacrosse team opened its four-game road trip with a 16-8 defeat at Holy Cross on Wednesday in non-conference action. Vermont falls to 2-4 on the season with four non-conference games remaining. Holy Cross wins its second straight game and improves to 2-5 on the year.

Bailey Saneman and Elise Koehl scored two goals apiece to lead the Catamounts. Elena McWright tallied three points on the day with a goal and handed out a pair of assists. Netminder Maddy Kuras recorded 18 saves between the pipes. 

The Crusaders had three players register a hat trick - Baker Earl, Kerianne Moran, Brynn Carroll. Earl also dished out two assists in the victory. Julia Maloney picked up the win in goal and made one save. 

Saneman got the scoring started with her first goal of the season at the 24:43 mark, but Holy Cross responded with four unanswered goals in a seven-minute stretch to take a 4-1 lead. 

The Catamounts mounted a comeback with back-to-back scores from Jenna Janes and Koehl. Janes cut the Crusader lead to 4-2 with 17 minutes left in the period, then Koehl buried her 17th goal of the year to make it 4-3 just past the midway point. 
 
After Holy Cross' Molly Pfaff and Alex Bernier traded goals, the Crusaders closed out the half with four goals and took a 9-4 lead into the break. 
 
Pfaff and Carroll opened the second half with goals for Holy Cross, but UVM clawed back into the game once again. Ali Korin, McWright, and Koehl found the back fo the net for the Green and Gold and trimmed the deficit to 11-7 with under 18 minutes left to play. 
 
Holy Cross countered UVM's attack and put the game out of reach by scoring five of the game's final six games. 
 
Vermont will continue its road swing at Jacksonville on Sunday (March 11). The opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
