AMERICA EAST 'SPREAD RESPECT' GAME
Continuing its dedication to fostering leadership on and off the court, the America East Conference and its member institutions are conducting 'Spread Respect' games during conference play. Spread Respect games were created with the purpose of furthering awareness and education to ensure equality, respect, and safety for all student-athletes and everyone in our community. Here in Catamount Country, we promote equity and inclusion by embracing all aspect of one's identity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, ability or age.
AMERICA EAST LEADERS
Vermont has one of the top scoring offenses in the conference. UVM sits third with 156 points and the team's 48 assists are the fourth-most in the league.
Elise Koehl is tied for fifth in America East with 27 goals while Bernier has also locked down a top five spot with 15 assists. Between the pipes, Kuras leads the conference with 109 saves.
FEEL THE BERN
Bernier's senior campaign of 15 assists is only four assists shy of cracking the top-10 on UVM's single season assists list. Two years ago, the Falmouth, Maine native tallied 26 assists for the third-highest single season total. She has racked up 52 assists in her career – the fourth most by a Catamount.
SCOUTING ALBANY
The Great Danes began the season ranked No. 24 in the IWLCA Preseason Coaches' Poll and were picked second in the America East preseason rankings. Albany started non-conference play with seven straight losses but ended the slate with a 12-9 win at Fresno State on March 17. Since the schedule flipped to league play, the Great Danes have rattled off victories over Hartford and Binghamton. Emma Powlin leads the team with 32 points on 22 goals and 10 points. The senior ranks in the top-10 in points and goals among her conference peers. Kendra Harbinger has earned four straight America East Rookie of the Week nods. The freshman midfielder paces the Great Danes with 24 goals. Goalie Erin Leghart is tied for third in the league with 81 saves and has recorded a 41.5% save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts are seeking their second win against the Great Danes as Albany leads the all-time series 19-1. Vermont reached the win column in 2008 with a 11-10 America East victory in Burlington. Sarah DeStefano's unassisted goal with 1.8 seconds left in the game helped the Green and Gold reach the win column.
