DURHAM, N.H. – The UVM women's lacrosse team began their three-game road trip with a 17-6 defeat at twin state rival New Hampshire on Saturday night. The setback drops the Catamounts to 4-9 on the year and 0-4 in league play. The Wildcats even their overall record at 6-6 and stay unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.

Jenna Janes recorded her fourth hat trick of the season with four goals. The junior handed out an assist and won three draw controls.
Elise Koehl and
Bailey Saneman added one goal apiece.
Maddy Kuras stopped 10 shots in goal and
Catherine Green saved three shot attempts in a relief appearance.
UNH had two players log a hat trick. Krissy Schafer led the way with five goals and caused a pair of turnovers. Julia Neyland followed with four points on three goals and one assist. Kate Clancy earned the victory in goal and made five saves.
The Wildcats struck first after Schafer lined a shot from 10 yards out. The Catamounts countered 25 seconds later when Saneman fired a shot over the defense and into the right side of the net. UNH added two more goals from Carly Wooters and Schafer, but UVM answered once again. Janes cut the deficit to 3-2 with a free position goal and Koehl knotted the score up at 3-3 at the 22:11 mark.
New Hampshire notched two more scores near the midway point of the first period, but Janes ended the run with her second goal of the evening. The junior worked her way through two defenders and buried a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. The Wildcats closed out the half with four unanswered goals and held a 9-4 lead at halftime.
UNH netted five goals to begin the second half before Janes stopped the surge with back-to-back scores. The Baltimore, Maryland native scored a free position goal with 20 minutes left in the game then tallied an unassisted goal three and a half minutes later.
The Wildcats registered the last three goals of the night over the ensuing 11 minutes for the final margin of victory.
