BALTIMORE, Md. – Anna Kaplan earned America East Elite 18 Award for the second time this season and three other Catamounts earned America East All-Conference honors in the final day of competition at the 2018 Outdoor Championships, hosted by UMBC in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Vermont women finished seventh with 60 points and the men finished eighth with 45 points. The Albany women won the conference title for the 10th consecutive year. The Great Dane men won the outdoor crown for the 13th straight season.

"The team places and points don't necessarily reflect the quality of our performances this weekend," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "We did some outstanding things in many event areas. Our men and women deserve credit for competing well at championship time. I am proud of the resilience they show despite our limitations. We'll get back at it for New England's this coming weekend."
Abiti entered the final day of competition in fifth place through four events in the heptathlon. In the final three events on Sunday, Abiti finished second in the long jump (5.52m, 18-1.50), third in the javelin (24.36m, 79-11), and second in the 800m run (2:28.32) to take second overall with 3,456 points, a personal record.
DeBlieck earned conference honors after a time of 52.70s in the 400m hurdles. He knocked just over an entire second off of his qualifying time from yesterday (53.71s).
Sayer grabbed Vermont's third All-Conference honors of the day in the 5,000m run, finishing third with a mark of 17:34.83.
Kaplan received the America East Elite 18 Award for excellence in athletics and academics. She will graduate from UVM with a perfect 4.0 GPA and majors in Exercise & Movement Science. She earned America East Cross Country All-Conference honors and the Elite 18 Award last fall.
The men's decathlon saw DJ Snide score 5,896 points and finish fourth overall. He finished second overall in the 100m dash and the javelin throw.
Morgan Ferland took fourth in the women's discus with a mark of 41.62m (136-6), narrowly missing All-Conference laurels.
Nikisha Falcone narrowly missed America East honors, taking fourth in the javelin with a personal best mark of 37.59m (123-4). Nikki Christine (35.29m, 115-9) placed seventh to score for UVM.
Justin Liechty posted a time of 48.88s in the 400m dash to finish sixth, scoring for the Catamounts.
Alex May Curtis (1:03.09) missed an ECAC qualifying time by .05s, taking fifth in the women's 400m hurdles.
In the 800m run, Lauren Trumble took fourth with a mark of 2:09.37 while Taylor Kracher (1:52.99) finished fifth in the men's race, his best time of the outdoor season.
In the men's 1,500m final, John Benner's ECAC mark of 3:54.36 put him in ninth place. Aaron Lucci (4:00.10) followed in 11th. Sunny Nagpaul (4:39.05) took seventh and Caroline O'Shea (4:40.51) followed in eighth in the women's race. Katie Nolan (4:41.29) and Isabel Cardi (4:41.42) took 10th and 11th, respectively.
Tyler Marshall was the top Catamount in the 5,000m run, posting a time of 15:08.03 to finish 14th overall. Sunny Nagpaul scored for Vermont with a time of 17:48.63, finishing seventh overall while Maggie Hallahan (18:10.33) finished 10th overall.
The men's 4x800m relay team of Benner, Lucci, Patrick Kitchen, and Allen Vance posted a time of 7:38.93 to finish fifth overall.
The women's 800m relay team of Ava Meyer, Smita Boesch-Dining, Phoebe Koski, and O'Shea also took fifth with a time of 9:15.48. Both the men and women posted ECAC marks.
The 4x400m relay squad of Kracher, Liechty, Will Juniper, and Cam McLaughlin placed fifth with a time of 3:19.90.
The Catamounts close out the 2018 season with a trip to the New England Championships next weekend, hosted by Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. The regional championship begins on Friday (May 11) and continue through Saturday (May 12).
