BURLINGTON, Vt. –  Sophomore goalie Sierra Espeland (9 saves) made several key stops against Quinnipiac (1-1), but in the end the Bobcats pulled out a 2-1 victory over UVM (0-2) on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Moulton Winder Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sophomore Pleun Haantjes recorded a defensive save after a pair of Espeland saves on three consecutive shots from from QU's Bianka Strubbe in the 17th minute to keep the match scoreless.
• Quinnipiac's Mikayla Adams scored the afternoon's first goal in the 20th minute after deflecting a centering pass from Ines Ruiz Martinez past Espeland.
• Ten minutes later, Carla Godsman ran by the Bobcat defense and slotted the ball past a diving Hannah Teicher (6 saves) to tie the game at 1-1.
• Valerie Adams scored the deciding goal in the 41st minute, knocking home a rebound following a QU penalty corner.
• Vermont had several penalty corners with a chance to tie the game in the second half, including five consecutive opportunities. The Bobcat defense prevented several shots from reaching Teicher.
• Quinnipiac held a 13-11 shot advantage while Vermont had a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners.
