COACH'S QUOTE
"Cornell executed a couple of plays to get corners in our end at the end of the match," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "We were able to defend them, and as the ball came out we were able to turn to offense and really take advantage of the situation Cornell was in. Our players had great composure and vision over the ball, they moved the ball quickly and to the stick and we finished the play."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team scored in a back-and-forth opening half with one penalty corner on either side of the field.
- Cornell freshman Claire Jones scored her second goal of the season in the 47th minute to break the deadlock and give the Big Red a 1-0 advantage.
- Looking to tie the game in the 55th minute, UVM had a pair of penalty corners and senior Olivia Hurd ripped a shot to the back of the net on Vermont's second corner. Lauren Tucker moved the ball to Hurd to grab the assist on the play.
- Sierra Espeland made all five of her saves in the second half, including four in the span of 60 seconds.
- After Landon Warren blocked a Cornell shot off a penalty corner, Sydney Melfi and the Catamounts broke to the Cornell end with numbers. Melfi dished to Gillen who returned a pass on the give-and-go, and Melfi slid the ball across the circle to a wide open Clodagh Ferry, who netted the winner.
- The Big Red called timeout with just under two minutes remaining and pulled goalie Maddie Henry (2 saves) for the extra attacker, but could not tie the game at 2-2.
