BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont men's hockey team partnered with the Burlington Amateur Hockey Association on Sunday (Oct. 13) for a clinic to raise money for the American Red Cross Hurricane Dorian Relief fund.
 
In total, the men's hockey team and BAHA combined to raise $1,150 for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas.

"UVM Hockey was pleased and honored to team up with BAHA to raise money for a very worthy cause," head coach Kevin Sneddon said. "The American Red Cross does amazing work around the world, and in particular, the support they have provided to the Hurricane Dorian Relief is simply amazing. We were able to combine some great on ice skills and fun between our team and many players from BAHA. It was a great day to show how selflessness goes a long way."
 
"The goal of the Red Cross is to turn compassion into action," said Rachel Valum of the Red Cross. "The event put on by the Vermont men's hockey team is a perfect example of that goal; and we are so grateful for their partnership."
 
Over two dozen local youth hockey players took the ice with the Catamounts over multiple clinics Sunday morning at Gutterson Fieldhouse. House, under-eight, and under-ten players skated in the first clinic with under-12 and under-14 skaters following in the second session.
 
"BAHA was thrilled to open the season by partnering with head coach Sneddon, assistant coach Jeff Hill, and the UVM men's hockey team," said Maureen Webb. "BAHA players ranging from five to 14 years enjoyed time on the ice with the coaches and players while raising money for the American Red Cross Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. Thank you to all of the coaches, players and director of operations Ryan Callahan for making the event so successful. We look forward to partnering with Kevin and the team in the future and you will definitely hear BAHA players cheering loud when the Catamounts take the ice at Gutterson this season.

The 2019-20 Catamounts open the regular season tomorrow night (Oct. 18) at 10th-ranked Clarkson. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, New York.
