Stefanos Lekkas picked up his 10th career Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honor after a weekend split in the North Country against 10th-ranked Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Hockey East announced its weekly awards earlier Monday.

Lekkas led Vermont to a 2-0 shutout win over St. Lawrence on Saturday (Oct. 19). The Elburn, Illinois native stopped 20 third period shots and finished the game with 35 saves. On Friday against the ranked Golden Knights, Lekkas made 29 saves in a 3-2 loss.
In total, he finished the weekend with a .955 save percentage and 1.52 goals against average. He stopped 64-of-67 shots faced in the North Country.
Lekkas became the third Catamount goalie to join the 3,000-save club in the third period at St. Lawrence. The netminder joins a pair of UVM Hall-of-Famers, Tim Thomas '97 (3,950) and Joe Fallon '08 (3,352). Lekkas has 3,004 career saves.
With his fourth career shutout, Lekkas moves to seventh in program history, tied with Mike Millham '91. Nationally, the assistant captain ranks third in save percentage and 10th in goals against average. He is one of 18 goaltenders with a shutout in 2019-20.
