PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Vermont closed the books on non-conference play with a 2-0 setback at 24th-ranked Brown on Wednesday. The Catamounts will head into the final game of the regular season with a 3-9-3 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 25th minute, the Bears came within inches of getting on the board. Brittany Raphino drove a free kick off the crossbar from 20 yards out, but the Catamounts cleared away any rebound opportunity.
- Brown struck for the first goal of the game in the final minutes of the first half. Maesyn G'Bye tossed a long throw-in to the left side of the box, then Raphino knocked a header into the bottom right corner of the net.
- The Bears doubled their lead in the 49th minute. Raphino lined a low cross from the top left corner of the box to the right side and Zoe Maxwell chipped a ball back to the far post for her second goal of the season.
- Near the midway point of the second half, the Catamounts tried to cut the deficit in half. Alyssa Oviedo had her shot blocked then Brooke Jenkins attempted to bury the rebound but missed wide of the near post.
GAME NOTES
- Goalie Kacey Lambertson made three saves in the setback.
- Jenkins led the team with two shot attempts.
- Wednesday's match was the first time the Catamounts played a nationally-ranked opponent since 2011 (No. 12 Boston College).
