MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY PRESENTED BY MILTON CAT
Saturday's duel with UML is Military Appreciation Day presented by Milton Cat. Complimentary tickets are available for all military service members and their families with the presentation of a government issued ID at the Gutterson Fieldhouse Box Office.
STREAK SNAPPERS
In two recent matches, the Catamounts have snapped an opponent's long unbeaten streak. UVM took down Dartmouth 1-0 in Hanover on Oct. 8 to end the Big Green's 23-game home unbeaten streak. The Cats did it again at Hartford last Saturday with a 3-0 victory and handed the Hawks their first loss in 11 contests.
CONFERENCE MIDWAY POINT
The Green and Gold will turn the corner towards the second half of conference play on Saturday afternoon. UVM has the highest scoring offense through the first four America East games with 28 points on nine goals and 10 assists. The Cats also have one of the best defenses in league play. Vermont has surrendered three goals, tied for the second-fewest in the conference.
Frosti Brynjólfsson leads the league with seven points. The Icelandic newcomer sits second with three assists and he is also tied for second with two goals.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks have won six out of their last eight matches but have stumbled in their last two outings. UML has suffered back-to-back losses against UAlbany (L, 2-0) and nationally-ranked New Hampshire (L, 4-0). Despite the struggles, the River Hawks have two of the league's top scorers in Stanley Alves and Renato Kauzlaric. Alves ranks in the top-10 with three goals and boasts a team-best eight points. Kauzlaric has doled out four assists – tied for the second-most in the conference. In goal, Patrik Gujic has the third-lowest goals-against average (0.96) by an America East keeper
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will look to even the all-time series as the River Hawks own a slight 2-1-3 edge. The first three matches from 2013-15 resulted in a draw, then nationally-ranked UML held off UVM in 2016 and 2018. The Cats earned their first win over the River Hawks with a 2-1 victory at Virtue Field in 2017.
