COACH'S QUOTE
"I wish we had gotten the result today for these seniors," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "They have seen the program through a transformative period, and I'm grateful for their belief in the process along the way."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cats brought pressure early in the game but could not get a shot past Isabella Santucci (8 saves). Santucci made five saves in the first quarter and benefited from a defensive save to keep the game scoreless through 15 minutes.
- Dartmouth's Katie Spanos broke the deadlock in the 27th minute off Dartmouth's third penalty corner of the game. Carmen Braceras triggered the corner to Taylor Hantman, who moved the ball to an open Spanos for the goal.
- Kate Hall wasted no time scoring her seventh of the season less than two minutes after the Big Green took the lead. The freshman received a pass near the goal line in the circle from classmate Haley Buffenbarger and quickly fired a shot past Santucci.
- Junior Sydney Melfi gave Vermont a brief lead in the 37th minute as she scored her third goal of the season from a great pass from Bailey Matthews.
- The Big Green answered 52 seconds later to bring the score even at 2-2. Jocelyn Wulf redirected a pass from Katie Persin and beat Sierra Espeland (2 saves) for the equalizer.
- Dartmouth found the back of the net on a 51st-minute penalty corner. Quick passing at the top of the circle led to a shot from Sara Falkson from the top of the circle. Holley Cromwell managed to tip the shot past Espeland as she fell to the turf.
