"I didn't want to get into naming names and I won't, because there were too many coaches, too many teammates, too many trainers, too many media people that I worked with, too many cops at the rinks … everybody!" Thomas said in his induction speech. "I guess I'm going to end with thank you, because that's all I got, just thank you."
Thomas helped Vermont to the 1996 Frozen Four as a junior and was named an All-American with teammate Martin St. Louis '97. The 2007 UVM Athletics Hall of Fame inductee is the program leader in games played (140), wins (81), and saves (3,950).
The Flint, Michigan native played overseas and in the AHL following his Catamount career, and broke into the NHL as a starter with the Boston in 2005-06. From there, Thomas was named to four All-Star games and won two Vezina Trophies as the league's top goalie.
In 2011, Thomas carried the Bruins through the Stanley Cup playoffs and became the fifth former Catamount to lift the Stanley Cup. Thomas won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP and is one of just two goalies to win the Vezina, Stanley Cup, and Conn Smythe in the same season.
Internationally, Thomas represented the United States in seven different World Cups. He also won a silver medal with the 2010 Olympic Team.
Thomas is the second UVM alum inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. John LeClair '91 was enshrined in 2009.
