Stefanos Lekkas earned Hockey East weekly recognition for the second straight week, picking up Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors from the conference earlier Monday.

Lekkas allowed one goal in each of Vermont's games against twin-state rival New Hampshire over the weekend. He recorded 57 saves in the pair of games, a 1-0 Vermont loss on Friday (Feb. 8) and a 4-1 Vermont win on Saturday (Feb. 9) at Gutterson Fieldhouse. He recorded 31 saves in Saturday's victory, the 40th win of his career. He has recorded 30 or more saves in a game 15 times this season.
Following the weekend, Lekkas leads the nation in saves per game (32.2), ranks fifth in the country in save percentage (.931), and 20th in goals against average (2.26).
With 870 total saves this season, Lekkas is two stops shy of tying Christian Soucy '93 for the 10th-most saves in a single season by a Vermont goalie. Soucy made 872 saves in the 1992-93 campaign. With 2,770 career saves, Lekkas is 36 saves shy of matching Tom Draper '87 for fourth most in a Green & Gold uniform. Only Tim Thomas '97 and Rob Madore '12 have recorded more than 3,000 career saves at UVM.
The Elburn, Illinois native is one of 83 nominees for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the best college hockey player in the country. He is one of 20 semifinalists for the 67th Walter Brown Award, given annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
Lekkas and the Catamounts head to Matthews Arena for a Hockey East weekend series against 14th-ranked Northeastern. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 15) and Saturday (Feb. 16).
