MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (12-14-2, 5-11-2 HEA) travels to Boston, Massachusetts for a pair of Hockey East games against 14th-ranked Northeastern (17-9-1, 9-7-1 HEA) at Matthews Arena.
 
The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 p.m. on both Friday (Feb. 15) and Saturday (Feb. 16) in Boston. The voice of Catamount hockey, Michael Lehr, will be on the call for both games on WVMT 620-AM and CatamounTV.com.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern enters the weekend home series against Vermont with a 17-9-1 overall record and 9-7-1 Hockey East record. The Huskies are ranked 14th in the nation per the USCHO Poll and the USA Hockey poll. With a 5-6-0 record in games played in 2019, Northeastern won its second straight Beanpot on Monday (Feb. 11) with a 4-2 win over Boston College.
 
Freshman Tyler Madden leads the Huskies in scoring with 23 points. Sophomore Zach Solow leads the team with 13 goals and junior Jeremy Davies holds the team lead in assists with 17. Sophomore Cayden Primeau has made 24 starts between the pipes for Northeastern. He 32nd in the country with  a 2.37 goals against average and 17th nationally with a .923 save percentage.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Friday's game is the 66th all-time meeting between the Catamounts and Huskies in a series dating back to the 1968-69 season. Vermont holds a 32-26-7 all-time record over Northeastern. UVM holds a 19-16-6 record against NU since joining Hockey East prior to the 2005-06 season.
 
Northeastern has won four straight against Vermont entering Friday. The Catamounts have never dropped five straight games to the Huskies. UVM won five straight games over NU from the 1971-72 season through the 1975-76 season.
 
COWANS DOUBLES UP
Sophomore 
Ace Cowans registered a pair of assists in Vermont's 4-1 win over New Hampshire (Feb. 9), marking the third time this season he has tallied multi-assist games. Previously, Cowans tallied a pair of assists against Quinnipiac (Oct. 13) and UMass Lowell (Jan. 18). No other Catamount has more than two games with multiple assists.
 
BLOCK PARTY
Vermont has blocked a total of 328 shots heading into this weekend's series against Northeastern. UVM has blocked 10 or more shots in 15 games this season and 20 or more shots in a pair of games. The Cats blocked a season-high 24 shots in a 2-1 win at Brown (Oct. 28) and a season-low 5 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss at New Hampshire (Oct. 27).
 
HOBEYLEKKAS | Vote for Stef
Stefanos Lekkas is one of 83 nominees for the 2019 Hobey Baker Memorial Award fan vote. Voting is open to fans through March 10, with a maximum of one vote allowed per day. Lekkas is second in the NCAA in saves per game (31.1) and is second in the nation in total saves (870). He ranks fifth in the nation in save percentage (.931).
 
Lekkas is one of eight goaltenders nominated for the award. Ryan Miller was the last netminder to win college hockey's top individual prize as a sophomore at Michigan State in 2001. Vermont's most recent Hobey Baker finalist was Viktor Stalberg in 2009.
