COACH'S QUOTE
"Today was another great team win," head coach Sarah Dalton said. "To come out of this weekend with two wins is a huge testament to our captains, seniors, and team. We got hit with some early adversity and I am really proud of how individuals and units stepped up."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Jaspers struck first with Alaina Burgess' first goal of the season less than two minutes into the game.
  • UVM responded in a big way with five unanswered goals. Koehl found the equalizer at the 22:23 mark, then Taylor Mullen gave the Green and Gold their first lead of the day near the midway point of the first half.
  • Grace Giancola padded the lead to 3-1 on a free position shot and Koehl netted her second goal with 10 minutes left in the period. Jenna Janes kept the ball rolling and converted a free position opportunity two minutes later.
  • Manhattan stopped the run later in the first half when Molly Fitzpatrick cashed in a free position chance of her own.
  • The Catamounts carried the momentum into the second half with two more goals from Koehl and Mullen.
  • The Jaspers rallied with four unanswered goals, including two woman-up scores from Grace Lipponer (3 goals), in a five-minute stretch and closed the gap to 7-5.
  • Koehl and Mullen teamed up to end Manhattan's run as Koehl netted her fourth goal of the contest with 10:22 remaining on the clock.
  • Fitzpatrick kept the pressure on for the Jaspers with her second goal with six minutes left but the Cats scored twice in the late stages of the game to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
  • Koehl finished the game with five goals and one assist. The senior also picked up three ground balls.
  • Mullen added an offensive spark off the bench with two goals and two assists.
  • In addition to her goal, Janes was credited with an assist and registered a game-high five ground balls.
  • Maddy Kuras earned the win in the cage and recorded 12 saves for the second straight game.
  • UVM is 2-0 to begin the season for the first time since 2014.
  • With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 35 wins and $3,500.
