BURLINGTON, Vt. - Marist scored the game-winning goal nearly two minutes into overtime and handed the UVM women's lacrosse team a 15-14 setback on Sunday afternoon in the home opener. The non-conference foes both stand at 2-1 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Foxes built an early 3-0 lead behind a pair of goals from Kelly George (5 goals), but the Catamounts countered with six unanswered scores and built a 6-3 advantage with 11 minutes left in the half.
- Marist's Jessica Lasaponara (1 goal) ended the run at the 5:36 mark but UVM's Jenny Caoili and Jenna Janes netted goals in the final 3:14 as the Cats took an 8-4 lead into the break.
- The Red Foxes chipped away at the deficit by scoring four of the first five goals of the period and trailed 9-8 less than 10 minutes into the second half.
- Vermont answered the call once again and netted four straight including a pair from Caoili.
- Marist stormed back with six goals in a 10-minute stretch and Hailey Wagner found the equalizer with 3:15 left in regulation.
- In the final minute of the second half, the Catamounts held the ball for the last shot but could not generate a shot on goal.
- In the extra session, the Red Foxes won the draw control and Samantha Mehalick cashed in the free-position chance for the game-winner.
GAME NOTES
- Janes and Elise Koehl led the way for the Green and Gold with four goals apiece. Janes was also credited with an assist and picked up two ground balls.
- Caoili recorded her second hat trick of the young season and converted 1-of-2 free position shots.
- Dani Paterno logged her first career point with a goal in the first half.
- Alex Vignona handed out two assists and tallied three ground balls.
- Goalie Mady Kuras made 11 saves in net for the Cats.
