COACH'S QUOTE
"Overall I am happy with a strong win on Virtue Field today. We executed much better between the lines than last week and were fortunate to have so many guys contribute," head coach Chris Feifs said. "Knight really had a strong day and got us going early while guys like Thomas McConvey, Closterman, French, and Limoges continued to play at a high level. Giaquinto did a great job at the X today, winning 14-of-19 faceoffs with eight ground balls to allow us to play with a lead. All in all we have to keep improving each game with this young group because our schedule only gets tougher from here on out."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A pair of Knight goals separated by Thomas McConvey's second goal of the game pushed a 2-1 Catamount lead to a 5-1 Catamount lead in a 4:17 span late in the first quarter. Knight completed the hat trick to make it 6-2 Vermont with 1:01 remaining in the opening quarter.
  • UVM pushed the lead to 10-5 at halftime, the final score from last season's meeting in Hamden, Connecticut. Four different Catamounts found the back of the net in the second.
  • Three goals separated by just 1:45 early in quarter three made it 13-5 Vermont. The starting attack unit of Limoges, French, and Milchling scored in the mini-run. Knight added his fourth of the game with 57 seconds left in the quarter.
  • Senior Bryan Cahill and junior Marley Heimert each scored his first career goal in the fourth quarter. Cahill's came with 4:41 left to make it 19-9 and Heimert's goal capped Vermont's second 20-goal effort of the season with 3:13 to play.
  • Junior goalie Nick Washuta made seven saves to pick up his third win of the season. The Orono, Minnesota native played 54:37 before being relieved by freshman Matt Shaffer.
  • UVM went 20-for-33 at the X with freshman Michael Giaquinto going a stellar 14-for-19 on his faceoffs. Four different Catamounts took faceoffs.
GAME NOTES
  • The Cats were a perfect 18-for-18 on clears. Vermont finished the game with 13 turnovers to Quinnipiac's 16.
  • Vermont was 3-for-5 on EMO chances, bringing its season success rate to .538 (7-for-13).
  • Knight set a new career-high with four goals against the Bobcats while tallying his third career hat trick.
  • Limoges recorded his third consecutive four point game. The sophomore has 14 points through four games this season.
  • Eight Catamounts finished with two or more points and 13 Cats found the scoresheet at least once.
  • Vermont tallied 20 goals for the second time this season and just the fifth time since the start of the 1992 season.
  • With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont, bringing this year's total to 27 wins and $3,700.
