CATONSVILLE, Md. – Dawes Milchling scored his fourth goal of the game in double overtime to give Vermont a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the UMBC Retrievers Saturday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Retrievers scored five straight goals to take a 6-1 lead over the Catamounts into the second quarter. UMBC's Ryan Frawley posted a first quarter hat trick as UMBC held a 15-6 advantage in shots.
- Liam Limoges and Milchling each scored in the final minute of the first half to bring the Cats within four goals, trailing 8-4.
- UMBC held the Catamounts scoreless in the third quarter and added another pair to push its lead to 10-4 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
- David Closterman's second goal of the game made it 11-7 and kick-started the Catamount comeback with 5:27 to play in the fourth. From there, Milching, Rob Hudson and Thomas McConvey each tallied respective goals before Milchling tallied his third of the game with 2:21 to play to tie the game at 11-11. UVM tallied five goals in 3:06.
- Nick Washuta finished the game with 13 saves, making five stops in the fourth quarter and overtime periods to give Vermont a chance to climb back into the game.
- Milchling's game-winning goal came 59 seconds into the second overtime period. Thomas McConvey dodged a Retriever defender and found an open Milchling to cap the comeback.
GAME NOTES
- Milchling broke a two-game point drought and matched a career-high with four goals. The senior scored four times as a sophomore against Hartford in 2017.
- Freshman Sal Iaria tallied three assists in the fourth quarter. It marked a career-high in assists and points for the freshman from Washington state.
- Washuta recorded double-digit saves for the third straight game and fourth time in 2019. He matched UVM Hall-of-Famer Chris McCabe '91 with 20 career wins, the third most in program history.
- Vermont held a slight advantage at the X with a 15-for-28 afternoon. Sophomore Alex Semler was 13-for-25 and freshman Dobson Cooper was 2-for-5. Semler won the last six faceoffs in regulation to keep Vermont on the offensive.
- UMBC held a 51-31 advantage in shots and a 24-20 advantage in shots on goal. The Retrievers also finished the game with a 30-23 edge in ground balls.
