WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The UVM women's lacrosse team earned its fourth consecutive win and opened conference play with a 17-6 victory at Hartford on Saturday afternoon. The Catamounts stand at 6-1 on the year and the Hawks slip to 1-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont reeled off eight straight goals to begin the game, including an early hat trick from Elise Koehl. In the eight-score stretch, Alex Vignona was a big factor in setting up the offense with five assists.
- Hartford's Megan Miller broke up the shutout near the midway point of the first half, but UVM answered with three more goals over the next eight minutes.
- The Hawks netted two of the last three goals of the period, but the Catamounts went into the break with a 12-3 lead.
- The conference foes swapped goals to start the second half but the Green and Gold extended the advantage to double digits at the 17:33 mark.
- In the final 14 minutes, UVM buried three out of the game's last five goals for the final margin of victory. Near the eight-minute mark, Jen Williams recorded her first collegiate goal.
INSIDE THE SCORE
- Vignona led the team in points as the senior was credited with six assists, one shy of tying her own single-game record set at ECU on March 10.
- Koehl finished the game with five goals on six shot attempts.
- Nine different Cats scored a goal as Jenna Janes, Jenny Caoili, Maris Large, and Dani Paterno followed with two goals each.
- Maddy Kuras earned the win in goal and moved into sole possession of sixth place on the school's all-time wins list with 16 career victories. Catherine Green also saw time between the pipes and made two saves.
- The Catamounts matched the 2014 squad for the best seven-game start in the last five years. The four-game winning streak is also the first of its kind since 2015.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 47 wins and $4,700.
