AMERICA EAST 'SPREAD RESPECT' GAME
Continuing its dedication to fostering leadership on-and-off the field, the America East Conference and its member institutions are conducting 'Spread Respect' games during conference lacrosse games. America East and UVM urges you to spread respect by insuring equality and safety for all coaches, student, and fans without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Fans can visit the Marketing and Promotions table for more information and to hear from our student-athletes on how they Spread Respect.
CAREER CENTURY MARK
Reigning America East Offensive Player of the Week
Elise Koehl enters Saturday's game three points shy of 100 for her career. Prior to Vermont, she tallied 17 points in two seasons at Louisville before racking up 80 points in the last two years as a Catamount. She would become the 18th UVM player to hit the career century mark.
CHANCE TO MAKE HISTORY
UVM has won its last five games and sits one victory away from tying the program's all-time longest winning streak, set by the 1984 Cats.
IN THE RECORD BOOKS
With a two-goal performance at CCSU on Wednesday,
Jenna Janes cracked the career top-10 in points and goals. The senior moved into a 10th-place tie with Megan MacDonald (2007-11) with 131 career points. Janes has also locked down the No. 10 slot with 97 career goals. She is one goal away from climbing to No. 8 and the Baltimore native has the chance to become the eighth UVM player to score over 100 career goals.
SCOUTING UMBC
The Retrievers opened the 2019 campaign with close wins over American and VCU but have dropped their last nine contests. In this year's America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, UMBC was picked to finish fifth and accrued 28 points – right ahead of UVM in sixth with 20 points. Payton Van Kirk guides the team with 23 points and nine assists. The senior is coming off a three-point performance with two goals and one assist against UC Davis on Wednesday. Lauren McDonald follows with 20 points and has racked up a team-best 18 goals. Carly Tolino has earned the starting nod in goal for all 11 games. The senior goalie has recorded the second-most saves (115) in America East and has logged a 12.51 goals-against average.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will look to snap a slight two-game skid against the Retrievers and inch closer to tying the all-time series. UMBC holds a 9-6 edge over UVM but four of the Green and Gold's six victories have come in Burlington. Last year, the Retrievers held off a late rally by the Cats for a 16-14 win in Baltimore.
