LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell senior goalie Grant Lardieri tallied a career-high 22 saves while allowing just four goals as the River Hawks took an 8-4 win over the Catamounts Saturday night at Cushing Field.

Vermont drops to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play while UMass Lowell improves to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts jumped to a 2-0 lead halfway through the first quarter with goals from Thomas McConvey and Ben French.
- Jake Lining's goal with 4:03 left in the first quarter snapped a 70:43 scoreless streak held by junior Nick Washuta. The River Hawks added another goal with 23 seconds left in the first to tie the game at 2-2.
- The River Hawks held the Cats scoreless in the second quarter and took a 4-2 lead into the locker room with a pair of second quarter goals from Isaac Bot.
- After another pair of UMass Lowell goals to start the third quarter, McConvey added his second of the game to make it 6-3 UML. However, Lining's third of the game with one second left in the quarter pushed the lead to 7-3 heading into the fourth.
- Each team added a fourth quarter goal as the River Hawks took an 8-4 home conference win over UVM.
GAME NOTES
- Washuta's 70:43 without allowing a goal is the longest scoreless streak in program history. He finished the game with 13 saves, the fifth straight game with 10 or more saves.
- Vermont held a 44-36 advantage in shots and a 26-21 advantage in shots on goal.
- UVM had a 29-22 advantage in ground balls. Each team won seven faceoffs.
- Vermont was 13-for-15 in clears compared to UMass Lowell's 15-for-20 effort. UMass Lowell had 16 turnovers to Vermont's 15 giveaways.
