NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Konstanze Wendeln won the women's 10000m in the final event Friday night leading a group of four Catamounts who earned All-New
 England honors for the Vermont track and field team on day one of the New England Outdoor Championships Friday on the campus of Southern Connecticut
 State University. After the first day of competition the men are in fifth place with 16 points, while the women are seventh with 12 points. 

• Wendeln, a South Hero, Vermont native, ran a career-best time of 36:29.25 to earn the Catamounts first win of the meet. She finished 50.69 seconds ahead of Lauren Perkowski the second-place finisher from Keene State.
• Jack Carmody earned All-New England honors in the men's 10000m, finishing second overall in a time of 31:43.87. The second-place finish matched a career-best in the event. Vermont's Ian Denis finished ninth overall in the race with a time of 32:54.09.
• Luke Petela also placed second overall in the men's 5000m, earning All-New England honors for the first time in his career. His time of 14:45.41 was the second fastest of his career. Freshman Steven O'Driscoll finished 10th in a time of 15:06.29.
• In the women's 5000m the Catamounts had two finishers in the top-10. Samantha Sayer closed out her UVM career with a seventh-place finish, earning All-New England honors, in a time of 17:22.48. Maggie Hallahan finished in tenth with a time of 17:39.39.
• Vermont's Dan DeBlieck qualified for the 400m hurdles finals tomorrow with a time of 54.38. DeBlieck is the defending New England Champion in the event. He qualified seventh.
