BOSTON – The 2019 Stanley Cup Final will feature the St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins, the series will also showcase three former Catamounts in Joel Farnsworth '97, Kevan Miller '11, and Chris Zimmerman '81.
Joel Farnsworth is the Head Equipment Manager for the St. Louis Blues. He has been with the Blues organization since the 2002-03 season and is in his second season as the Head Equipment Manager. A Vermont native Joel was an equipment manager for the Catamounts from 1996-2001.
Former captain Kevan Miller is in his sixth season with the Boston Bruins. This season he has played in 39 games for the original six franchise with seven assists and a plus-eight rating. He suffered a knee injury April 4 against the Minnesota Wild and is unlikely to return to game-action this season. Kevan has played in 29 career playoff games for the Bruins.
Chris Zimmerman is in his fifth season as President and CEO of Business Operations for the St. Louis Blues. He oversees all aspects of the Blues' business operations, as well as Enterprise Center and the Blues' role and interest in the Stifel Theatre. Zimmerman was a four-year player for the Catamounts from 1977-1981 with 60 career points.
"On behalf of our coaches, student-athletes, alums, and administrators at UVM, I would like to extend congratulations to Kevan Miller, Chris Zimmerman, and Joel Farnsworth for reaching the Stanley Cup Final," said head coach
Kevin Sneddon. "It's been amazing to see the impact of UVM alums achieving the ultimate goal in hockey, the Stanley Cup. We've had former players like John LeClair (Montreal Canadiens), Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins), Martin St. Louis and Eric Perrin (Tampa Bay Lightning), Patrick Sharp (three times with the Chicago Blackhawks!) and Viktor Stalberg (Chicago Blackhawks) raise the Cup. As well, former UVM Strength and Conditioning Coach Paul Goodman has won it three times with the Chicago Blackhawks. I have to mention the great contributions that Patrick Sharp is making as an analyst for NBC Sports as well. Best of luck to Kevan, Chris, and Joel!"
