COACH'S QUOTE
"The game was won in the midfield," head coach
Rob Dow said. "Loyola is a good team who converted their attacking chances. We'll learn from our mistakes and then be prepared for Sunday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Loyola's Andrew Mitchell scored in the 31st minute of the game off of a free kick. Justin Sukow sailed a ball into the box from 18 yards out and Mitchell took advantage of a bobble from the Vermont goaltender, placing it into an empty net for the opening goal of the game.
- In the beginning of the second half Vermont defender Evan Rouleau had two solid opportunities to score but was unable to capitalize.
- The Catamounts built on that momentum and UVM defender Adrian Gahabka scored his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Alex Nagy headed a ball into the box and Gahabka coolly slotted a shot past Loyola's Marcel Kampman. Hans Oeftger also earned an assist on the play.
- Minutes later the Ramblers responded taking the lead for good. Fabian Becerra dribbled along the end line before firing a ball through the box that Stoneman redirected in for the game-winner.
- Kampman made three saves in the final 20 minutes of the game as the Ramblers held on to win the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
