Bailey Matthews tallied the game-winning goal for the second straight game and finished the afternoon with a pair of goals in Vermont's 4-2 win over Brown.

With the victory in the annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Inspired Closets, the Catamounts move to 2-2 in the 2019 season. The Bears fall to 1-3 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matthews opened the scoring with her second goal of the season in the fourth minute. Freshman Kate Hall found Matthews on the far post for the tap-in tally.
- Brown responded early in the second quarter as Hannah Leckey snuck a rebound past Sierra Espeland (7 saves) in the 17th minute on a Brown penalty corner. Espeland made the initial save on Corinne Condie's shot.
- Sophomore Clodagh Ferry broke the 1-1 deadlock early in the third quarter on Vermont's second straight penalty corner opportunity. Sydney Melfi triggered the corner to Peppe Haantjes, who slid the ball to Ferry for the quick shot and goal in the 33rd minute.
- Brown again tied the game early in the following quarter as Condie found the back of the net in the 47th minute.
- Matthews tallied her third goal of the past two games in the 51st minute to give Vermont its final lead of the game. Hall added the insurance goal, her third of the season, in the 56th minute, with an assist from Matthews.
GAME NOTES
- Vermont held a 14-13 advantage in shots while Brown held a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Catamounts held a slight 5-4 edge on penalty corners.
- Today's win marks Vermont's first win over Brown since 2008, snapping UVM's three-game skid against the Bears. UVM moves to 7-3 all-time in games played against Brown in Burlington.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 60 wins and $6,000.
