COACH'S QUOTE
"We made some critical errors in the defensive circle today, and a talented team will capitalize on those," head coach Kate Pfeifer said. "I feel we competed well in the first two quarters, but allowed Stanford to get into a rhythm in the third. Conceding six goals was frustrating and just not in line with the objectives we have."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zanolli, the NCAA leader in goals per game, gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute with a shot from the center of the circle.
  • UVM grabbed momentum following the Stanford goal, firing the game's next six shots which culminated in Clodagh Ferry's 22nd minute goal. The goal came on Vermont's second penalty corner with an assist from Pleun Haantjes.
  • Zanolli tallied her second of the game off a Stanford penalty corner just 1:43 after Ferry's goal give the lead back to Stanford at 2-1.
  • Stanford freshmen Lynn Vanderstichele and Rose Winters tallied third quarter goals to extend Stanford's lead to 4-1.
  • Freshman Kate Hall cut into the Stanford lead in the 45th minute with her fourth goal of the season. Melfi picked up her third assist on the goal.
  • Jessica Welch pushed the Cardinal lead to 5-2 in the 46th minute with her second goal of the season. Zanolli added her third of the game in the 55th minute to make it 6-2.
GAME NOTES
  • Ferry, who was a 2018 America East All-Rookie team selection, has already surpassed her 2018 goal total with three goals through five games in 2019.
  • Stanford finished the game with an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-4 advantage in penalty corners. Both teams finished the game with five saves.
