Madeleine Kovacs are set to compete in the 2019 CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championship.
The races, hosted by the University of Kansas at Lone Star Lake, will begin with the men's race at 9:30 a.m. (ET) with the women's race following at 11:00 a.m. (ET).

SCOUTING THE FIELD
A total of 80 female swimmers from 24 universities will compete in the 2019 CSCAA Open Water Championship tomorrow morning. From the Northeast, Vermont is joined by swimmers from Providence College, Trinity College, and the Coast Guard Academy.
The men's race features 54 student-athletes from 18 different universities.
SMITH RECAP
Smith finished eighth in the 200 free (1:52.92) and 1650 free (17:41.24) at the 2019 America East Championships. She also placed 10th in the 500 free (5:02.27) at the conference meet.
Smith competed in 10k open water races over the summer in Vermont.
KOVACS RECAP
Kovacs enters Saturday's 5k race following a sophomore season that saw the Ahwatukee, Arizona native finish 13th in the 200 free (1:56.34), 14th in the 500 free (5:08.69), and 15th in the 100 free (54.20) at the 2019 America East Championships.
Kovacs won the 100 free (54.85) against Siena and the 1000 free (10:54.98) at Stony Brook a season ago.
A LOOK AHEAD
Vermont hosts Northeastern at Forbush Natatorium on Saturday, Sept. 21 to officially open the 2019-20 season schedule. The meet in Burlington is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will stream for free on CatamounTV.
