HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats (2-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) tallied a late third quarter goal to end a scoreless deadlock and held on to take a 1-0 win over the Vermont Catamounts (3-4, 0-0 AE) Sunday afternoon in Hamden, Connecticut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sydney Melfi had a pair of chances early in the first quarter and Peppe Haantjes made a pair of strong defensive plays in the second quarter in a scoreless opening half between the Catamounts and Bobcats.
- Vermont's first penalty corner of the game came early in the third quarter, but Clodagh Ferry's shot on goal from the play was turned aside by Quinnipiac goalie Hedda Biernmann-Ratjen (3 saves).
- Quinnipiac broke through with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter on its second straight penalty corner. Biance Strubbe fired a quick shot off the corner for the goal with assists from Ines Ruiz Martinez and Valerie Perkins.
- The Catamounts pulled Espeland from the goal with 3:30 remaining in the fourth quarter in an effort to tie the game, but were unable to do so.
GAME NOTES
- Both teams finished the game with just three shots on goal. Quinnipiac held a 2-1 penalty corner advantage.
