SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack enters the Hockey East weekend series with a 5-16-2 overall record and 3-8-2 conference mark. The Warriors fell twice to UMass Lowell and once to Boston University and hold a win over UConn in 2020.
Â
Merrimack's roster features five seniors, two juniors, five sophomores, and 15 freshmen. Senior Chase Gresock leads the team in goals (9) and points (17). Freshman Declan Carlile leads the team with 14 assists.
Â
Between the pipes, three freshmen have seen time this season with Troy Kobryn and Jere Huhtamaa playing the bulk of the minutes. Kobryn leads the trio with a .890 save percentage and 3.17 goals against average in nine starts. Huhtamaa holds a 3.60 goals against average and .852 save percentage in 14 starts.
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont holds a 19-17-2 all-time record against Merrimack and head coach
Kevin Sneddon holds a 16-14-6 record against Merrimack behind the UVM bench. The Cats hold a 7-8-4 record on the road against the Warriors.
Â
The Cats have won four straight in the series and hold a 6-3-1 record in the last 10 meetings. The Catamounts look to push its win streak to five games, which would be the longest in series history for UVM.
Â
LAST TIME AT LAWLER
Vermont took a pair of 2-1 wins, one in overtime, over Merrimack in the last series at Lawler Rink. Vermont took a 2-1 regulation win on Jan. 26, 2018 before an overtime 2-1 win the following night. Â
Stefanos Lekkas recorded 50 combined saves in the two games, allowing just a goal in each contest.
