COACH'S QUOTE
"There's not much to say about a game like this," head coach
Jim Plumer said. "We didn't defend our net and that is never a recipe for success. We have to put this behind us and move forward."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies struck twice in the opening seven minutes on goals from Katy Knoll and Chloe Aurard. Knoll's goal came 36 seconds into the game with a backhander over the shoulder of Blanka Škodová (7 saves).
- Val Caldwell got the Catamounts on the board with her seventh goal of the season late in the first period. The junior fired a high shot from the right circle that fooled Aerin Frankel (21 saves) with 5:01 left in the opening frame. Maude Poulin-Labelle was credited with the lone assist on the goal.
- Northeastern netted three quick goals to start the second period. Lauren MacInnis started the scoring 1:08 into the frame and Matti Hartman followed it up with a power-play goal that beat Natalie Ferenc (9 saves) 2:59 later. Aurard added a power-play goal for her second marker of the game.
- Theresa Schafzahl registered her ninth goal of the season 6:01 into the middle frame. Kristina Shanahan sent the sophomore on the rush before the sophomore fired a shot below the blocker of Frankel. Ali O'Leary had the secondary assist.
