SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College enters the Saturday meeting as the fourth ranked team in the country. The Eagles won nine straight games to end the first half of the season with an 11-4-0 overall record and 5-2-0 Hockey East mark.

David Cotton leads the Eagles and ranks fifth in Hockey East with 22 points. That mark is tied for 11th in the country. Cotton, Logan Hutsko, and Aapeli Rasanen lead the Eagles with eight goals apiece and are tied for 10th in Hockey East. Julius Mattila leads BC with 15 assists and is tied for third in the conference and tied for ninth nationally.

Between the pipes, Spencer Knight has started every game and holds a 1.73 goals against average and .940 save percentage. Knight represented the United States in the World Junior Championship. The Americans fell to Finland yesterday in the quarterfinal round. Â

THE 2019 CATAMOUNT CUP
Vermont took consecutive 2-0 wins over Union (Dec. 28) and Lake Superior State (Dec. 29) to claim the 2019 Catamount Cup. The Catamounts defended their home tournament for the second straight season.

Kevin Sneddon, Vermont has a 21-7-2 record in the Catamount Cup and have won the tournament eight times.

LEKKAS IS SECOND
Stefanos Lekkas passed Rob Madore '12 with the second most saves in program history against Union (Dec. 28). Lekkas currently has 3,391 saves and trails only Tim Thomas '97 (3,950) in Green & Gold history.

GOOSE EGGS
Lekkas recorded his sixth career shutout against Lake Superior, the fifth most in program history.

WEEKLY SWEEP
Lekkas,
Ace Cowans, and
Jacques Bouquot swept the final Hockey East weekly awards of the decade following the 2019 Catamount Cup. Lekkas earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, Cowans earned Player of the Week honors, and Bouquot earned Rookie of the Week honors.

The weekly award sweep marked the first regular season sweep of the awards since Vermont won all three to close out the 2000s on December 21, 2009. That week, Brian Roloff '10, Tobias Nilsson-Roos '13, and Rob Madore '12 earned weekly awards. However, Vermont was the only Hockey East team competing that weekend.

NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE
Vermont is 22-28-6 all-time in the first game played in a new calendar year. The Cats are 4-1-0 in the five games played to begin new decades.
