"Congrats to Corinne on being recognized for a great month, scoring in all three of our games including two game-winners," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "It's fantastic to see our players recognized for their good play and in Corinne's case, she's had a breakout season. We are very excited to see her continue her scoring prowess."
McCool tallied her four points on three goals and one assist, including a pair of game-winners at Maine. The sophomore tied for the league lead in goals in December and led Hockey East in clinching goals. She was one of three Division-I players with two or more game-winners in December.
The West Roxbury, Massachusetts native helped guide Vermont in a sweep over Maine to start the month of December. McCool scored the clinching goal on Friday (Dec. 6) and Saturday (Dec. 7) while adding an assist in the latter game. She then returned from the holiday break and opened the scoring for the Catamounts at No. 3 Northeastern on Monday (Dec. 30).
McCool leads the Catamounts with three game-winning goals this season, which is the third highest total in Hockey East. She has the third-highest point total (17) and the second-most goals (9) on Vermont.
The monthly honor is the first by a Catamount since
Sini Karjalainen was named Hockey East Player of the Month in December 2018. McCool was named Hockey East Player of the Week earlier in the month on December 9.
McCool and the Catamounts return to action on Saturday (Jan. 11) when they host Merrimack at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Puck drop is slated for 4 p.m. Tickets for the Hockey East contest are available for purchase at
UVMAthletics.com/Tickets or at the Gutterson Fieldhouse box office on gameday.
