MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Vermont Catamounts (3-20-4, 0-15-2 HEA) host the 14th-ranked Providence Friars (14-9-5, 8-8-2 HEA) in a Hockey East weekend series at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
 
The Catamounts and Friars are scheduled to square off at 7:05 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 14) and Saturday (Feb. 15). Tickets for both games are available through the links below. The voice of the Catamounts, Michael Lehr, is on the call on CBS All-Access and WVMT.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence enters the Hockey East weekend series with a 14-9-5 overall record and 8-8-2 conference mark. The Friars are 14th in both national polls. They rank 16th in the PairWise rankings and 17th in the RPI rankings. Providence enters the weekend in the midst of a three-game losing streak, falling to Northeastern before UMass handed them a pair of losses last weekend.
 
Sophomore Jack Dugan leads the country in assists (37) and points (46). Sophomore Tyce Thompson leads the Friars in goals (18). He ranks third in the country in goals and points (39).
 
Graduate transfer Michael Lackey has started every game this season for Providence. He holds a 2.30 goals against average and .918 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont holds a 28-26-9 all-time record against Providence in a series dating back to 1969. The Cats are 4-4-2 in their last 10 against the Friars. Head coach Kevin Sneddon holds a 16-14-8 record at Vermont against Providence.
 
MORIARTY MAN-DOWN
Vermont senior Corey Moriarty recorded his first goal since January 2017 at New Hampshire (Feb. 8). His goal marked Vermont's first short-handed goal of the season.
 
SERIES SPOTLIGHT
Vermont claimed back-to-back 4-1 wins over Providence in a home series in February 2009 to improve to 16-6-4 overall and 11-5-3 in Hockey East. Rob Madore '12 recorded 25- and 29-save wins in the series. Both games at the Gut held a capacity 4,003 fans in attendance.
 
RALLY AROUND MENTAL HEALTH GAME
Saturday is UVM's annual Rally Around Mental Health (RAMH) Game, an initiative that was created to help increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health. Led by student-athletes, the Rally Around Mental Health Committee offers educational programming and activities to promote mental health, resources for seeking help, and supports ongoing conversations about mental health through designated RAMH games for each sport.
