Men's Hockey Heads to Orono for Hockey East Series at 17th-Ranked Maine

MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Vermont Catamounts (3-21-5, 0-16-3 HEA) close the season series with the 17th-ranked Maine Black Bears (16-10-4, 10-8-2 HEA) with a two-game series at Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine.
 
The Catamounts and Black Bears are scheduled to square off at 7 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 21) before a 4:30 p.m. start on Saturday (Feb. 22). Saturday's game will broadcast on NESN. The voice of the Catamounts, Michael Lehr, is on the call on WVMT and through the UVMAthletics.com website.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine enters this weekend's series with a 16-10-4 overall record and a 10-8-2 conference record. Maine's record on home ice in Orono is 11-1-2. The Black Bears are coming off a series split with UConn, falling 3-2 before taking a 1-0 win in the second game.
 
Maine swept Boston College on the road to close out January, winning both games in overtime.
 
Senior Mitchell Fossier leads Maine in assists (29) and points (37). Senior Tim Doherty (14) leads the team in goals with junior Eduards Tralmaks just behind with 13.
 
Junior Jeremy Swayman has started 29 of 30 games this season but has played all but seven minutes between the pipes. Swayman holds a .935 save percentage to rank fifth nationally and a 2.35 goals against average to rank 17th.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont holds a 28-27-7 all-time record against the Black Bears and a 3-4-3 record in the last 10 games of the series. Head coach Kevin Sneddon holds a 21-19-7 record at Vermont against Maine.
 
KAUFMAN ON THE BOARD
Junior assistant captain Max Kaufman has tallied two goals in Vermont's last three games. He tallied his first goal of the season at New Hampshire (Feb. 7) before adding his second career shorthanded goal against Providence (Feb. 15).
 
MISLEY DOUBLES UP
Junior Bryce Misley recorded his first career multi-point game against Providence (Feb. 15). Misley assisted on Kaufman's shorthanded goal in the first period before dishing the helper to Andrew Lucas on his third period power play goal.
