BURLINGTON, Vt. – On Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. the NCAA Hockey Facebook page will rebroadcast in its entirety the 2009 NCAA East Regional Final matchup between the three-seed Vermont and the four-seed Air Force. The Catamounts defeated Air Force 3-2 in double overtime to advance to the programs second-ever Frozen Four.

The Catamounts were 22-12-5 in the 2008-09 campaign, winning a program-best 15 Hockey East games and finishing third overall in the league. The Catamounts attained their highest-ever final ranking, finishing third in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll.
That season Vermont was led in scoring by junior forward Viktor Stalberg. He had 24 goals and 22 assists as a First Team All-American and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. Shelburne, Vermont native Peter Lenes was named an Honorable Mention Hockey East All Star, he was second on the team in scoring with 31 points including 19 in league play. On Friday afternoon Lenes will join UVM Athletics' Michael Lehr in a special-edition of Catamount Connection to discuss the historic 2008-09 campaign.
Head Coach Kevin Sneddon, a Spencer Penrose Division I Coach of the Year finalist that season, described what made the 2008-09 UVM squad special, "We were led by a great group of players, Captain Dean Strong got the men on the same page. We played to our strengths. We had great goaltending, a solid defensive core, and some elite forwards. We played tough, we sacrificed for each other, and we played with confidence. We had fun and enjoyed the process every day."
