WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior defenseman
Christian Evers was named Hockey East Player of the Week Monday afternoon after a five-point weekend against the Maine Black Bears at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
On Friday afternoon Evers had his first career three-point game with two goals and an assist as Vermont defeated Maine 5-4 for its first win of the season. On Saturday Evers picked up two more goals and also blocked a team-high four shots. Following the weekend Evers is second on the team in scoring with five points.
Evers is the first Catamount to earn Hockey East Player of the Week honors since
Stefanos Lekkas '20 on February 4, 2019.
Vermont will return to action next weekend with its opponent and location to be announced. Hockey East is shifting schedules in an effort to make up previously postponed games. A full schedule update from Hockey East is expected tomorrow.
