COACH'S QUOTE
"UNH came out today and played really strong right from the beginning of the match and we took too long to get going," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "When you take a quarter or a half to get going and they take advantage, we found ourselves in a hole and that's a hard way to play in the America East."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After sustained Vermont pressure in the first quarter and two penalty corners for the Catamounts UNH opened the scoring with 1:18 left in the opening frame. In transition Rothwell got a great look on goal and Vermont's Sierra Espeland made a diving save. The rebound came back to Rothwell and she was able to slot it home just inside the far post for her third goal of the season.
- Midway through the second quarter the Wildcats doubled their lead on a penalty corner. Lindsay Lee and Tori Palumbo setup van den Brekel at the top of the shooting circle on the opportunity. Espeland made a stick save but didn't get enough to stop the momentum completely and it just crossed the line.
- Goalkeeper Jemma Woods earned UNH's second shutout of the season, making four saves on the afternoon.
