COACH'S QUOTE
"I wish I could sat it was our best effort today, but it wasn't. We had some really great moments and some more significant lapses where we got away from the game plan and made decisions that were costly," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "When we have played our best hockey this season the connection on the pitch has been evident and today it wasn't there. I'm disappointed for this group as it doesn't feel like this is how our conference stretch should have ended. It feels like there was more to be done with this team."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMass Lowell opened the scoring seven minutes into the contest. After a Vermont penalty corner, the Riverhawks countered quickly and a long pass from Maxine Van Havere found a wide open Berbel Rozema at the top of the circle. She slotted a shot by Sierra Espeland who had come off her line.
- Clodagh Ferry nearly pulled the Cats even with a backhand shot late in the first half but it rung the post.
- The Cats sent four shots on goal in the fourth quarter but Lowell goalkeeper Eleonore Boekhorst made four of her six saves in the final frame to preserve the win.
