Vermont (6-3-1, 1-1-0 AE) continues conference play on Saturday (Oct. 9) when it visits NJIT (3-6-1, 1-2-0 AE) at 3 p.m. in Newark, New Jersey. The two teams meet for the first time since the 2020-21 America East Semifinals last April, when the Catamounts clinched their first trip to the America East Championship since 2015.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT enters Saturday's matchup with UVM after a 2-1 win over Loyola at Lubetkin Field. The Highlanders' offense was led by Rene White who posted one goal and one assist. White has eight goals on the season, which is tied for the America East lead and ranks sixth in the country. The fifth-year is joined by fellow forward Regsan Watkins who was the America East Striker of the Year in the spring. Samuel Reisgys is the Highlanders' usual goalkeeper with a .629 save percentage. INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and NJIT meet for only the third time in series history. With the Highlanders joining America East a season ago, the two conference counterparts squared off for the first time on March 19, 2021 at Virtue Field.
Noah Egan scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to lead the Catamounts to a 2-1 victory. UVM and NJIT met once again in the America East Semifinals, with the Catamounts earning a 1-0 victory.

RELIVING NAGY'S CLINCHING GOAL
Alex Nagy scored the clinching goal in the 2020-21 America East Semifinals to beat NJIT and secure Vermont's ninth America East Championship Game berth in program history. Nagy headed a cross from
Garrett Lillie in the eighth minute to beat Samuel Reisgys of the Highlanders. In two games against NJIT, Nagy has one goal and two assists.

EARNING CORNERS
The Catamounts average 7.50 corner kicks per game, which ranks fourth in the country and leads America East. Vermont's highest corner kick total this season came against Siena on September 21 when the Cats registered 17 corners. UVM converted twice with goals from
Zach Barrett and
Adrian Schulze Solano.
